Connect to wireless (WiFi) on campus

Body

St. John Fisher University provides wireless access in all buildings on campus including Residence Halls, Academic, and Administration Buildings. The university offers a secure 5Ghz frequency signal to provide enhanced wireless security to the Fisher Community. Older devices may not be able to connect to SJF 5Ghz WiFi if they are 2.4Ghz only.  When purchasing a device that will connect to WiFi on campus, make sure that it supports 802.11ac.

All faculty, staff, and students can connect to "SJF-WiFi" (secure & encrypted) using their SJF network credentials

In Academic & Administration Buildings, and Residence Halls

SJF-WiFi will utilize the WPA-2 Enterprise protocol. WPA-2 Enterprise is built into all current operating systems and mobile devices. Users connect to the University’s main network through a secured encrypted connection. The secure network is available for all St. John Fisher owned/managed devices as well as any personal devices (BYOD).

SJF-Guest is an open wireless network routed directly to the Internet. The unencrypted public WiFi connection provides basic access with no security and slower speed than SJF-WiFi. All connections to the SJF network, including guest WiFi, are subject to the University’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP).
