Microsoft Windows 7 & 10 provides an encryption feature called BitLocker To Go. BitLocker To Go allows you to encrypt a USB drive and restrict access with a password. Connect the USB drive, receive a prompt to enter a password, and after entering the password you can read/write to the drive.
How to enable BitLocker To Go on a Microsoft Windows 10 device:
- Connect USB drive
- Open the Control Panel
- Click on System and Security
- Click on BitLocker Drive Encryption
- Click on Turn on BitLocker
- Follow the setup wizard instructions
